Kache’s last day of school was yesterday. Ryder, Dallie and I went with him because it was just a cleaning day. Kache has been asking for a mohawk for a while now (one of his school friends has a mohawk), so I buzzed him Monday morning before school. When Jason saw it Monday afternoon he was almost upset. He couldn’t believe I would do that. We’ll buzz it off before church on Sunday, so I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. And I remember Kollin always getting crazy hair cuts, so I figured if my parents allowed it, it’s not that bad.
The school kids spent a half hour in one room cleaning and taking stuff off the walls while another mother and I worked in the other class room. After the kids’ class room was finished they started another mess in the storage class room.
Taking a snack break.
Here are the mohawk buddies (excluding Ryder).
Recess time.
One last class picture. We are missing our teacher’s aid, she was in Hawaii.
And a picture with the would-have-been Lakeside students: Barrett, Ryder and Dallie.
And I did come home with some treasures from the school (of course, Jason would call them junk, but I love them).
I originally thought to use this for piano books and other music, but then I put it by my quilt rack and was thinking maybe a display for baby quilts.
This desk I love because it had so many names carved in it from years of use. I had our school kids carve their names in it too.
And these little chairs.
So now I just don’t know if I want to paint or change any of my items in any way or leave them as they are. And how should I use the table and shelving unit? And there are still some old wooden chairs at the school that I was going to bring home, but I didn’t (I already have enough stuff, but I can’t stand for any of it to just sit and rot).
So that was our last day of school. It was bittersweet, knowing we’ll probably not be going there again.
