Valentine’s Day

We celebrated Valentine’s Day with a drive to Sungrove for a picnic and motorcycle riding.  Sungrove is an area on the ranch that is being broken out of jungle (a.k.a. native Florida) and planted to pasture.  It was nice to get out of the house for a little while and away from civilization.

On the way back to the highway Jason and the boys spotted this canoe and had to take it out.  I was surprised Jason would risk taking Rex out as he would make a tasty treat for the gators, but he was able to keep him in the boat.

First Day of Preschool

Riggin started preschool this week.  Of course he loves it.  He’s so social and he has fun friends and a great teacher.  He came home his first day reciting, “Annie, apple, A A A.”

Sunday

Kolt went to church today for the first time.  He did pretty good, as long as I was holding him.  He probably shouldn’t have gone.  There’s lots of sickness going around.  We barely made it to church on time.  I don’t know how we ever made it to church on time in Nebraska with a new baby.

One Month

Kolt is one month old.  He weighs 9lbs this week.  He was still super fussy and had mucus and blood in his stool, so we decided the Nutramigen wasn’t working for him.  We called just about every pharmacy in Melbourne last weekend and no one carried Neocate.  I took him into the pediatrician Monday and she hadn’t ever dealt with Neocate (her nurse hadn’t even ever heard of it) and sent us to the GI doctor.  Thankfully we got in to the GI docotor the next day and she confirmed what we had decided.  We’re glad we have been through all this before so we know what to expect and how much it is going to cost.   I’m also glad we know so that Kolt won’t have to suffer as long as Riggin did.  Below are pictures of Riggin and Kolt at 1 month.  What a difference it made to catch this protein intolerance early.

Best Buds

Riggin and Johnny have become best buds.  They spend lots of time together.  It’s fun to have such great neighbors.

3 Weeks Old

Kolt finally seems to be growing.  He is at least getting longer.  His newborn jammies are getting too short.  And I do feel like his face is getting a little chubbier.  But he’s still kind of fussy.  He has another appointment next week so hopefully we’ll know then if he’s able to digest the Nutramigen.
