Lawn Mower

My lawnmower. I was supposed to put these pictures on a long time ago. I'm still loving my yard. The snakes are loving it too. I really, really don't like snakes. I can't tell you how many I've about stepped on this week. Anyway, I wouldn't enjoy mowing my lawn so much if I had to use that push mower in the background. I do have a lot of grassy hills that I have to use the push mower, but with this 72" blade, it takes me less than 3 hours to mow my huge yard. We came home from our vacation to two flat tires on this machine. My grass was really tall before Jason got it fixed.

What's Up?

We've been trying to play catch-up this week after getting home from vacation. I think I have done 15 loads of laundry since we have been home. Jason's been gone a lot. He has been helping AI on other units. This year the ranch is AI-ing two of the three heifer herds to ensure easier calving next spring. I'm not sure why we aren't AI-ing the herd we will be calving (assuming Jason has the heifers again next year). We had a lower assistance rate than the other herds, so I guess that's why? Anyhow, there is still one more week of AI-ing, so hopefully after that we will get to see Jason before the busy fall work starts.

I was released last Sunday as the Young Women's President and sustained as a counselor in the Primary. I'm excited and nervous about the change. Jason's not too excited. This means he will have to keep Dallie for all 3 hours of church (I play in Sacrament Meeting so he has all the kids, I usually take Dallie during Sunday School, but won't be able to any more, and then Jason would take her again the third hour because I would have to teach YW). He's looking forward to Dallie turning 18 months so she can go to nursery.

Dallie and Kache had doctor's appointments this week. Kache was getting his kindergarten physical and shots. He just has to see the eye doctor and he will be all ready for school to start next month. Dallie weighs 20 lbs (she's my biggest baby at 1 year old, she also the most active and loudest). Ryder was happy that he didn't have to get shots, but sad that he didn't get to get doctored by our awesome doctor (Ryder kept telling everyone he has a cold in his tummy). We really like Dr. Taylor. Everyone in western Nebraska likes Dr. Taylor. It takes months to get in to see him.

We are looking forward to next week when it is supposed to be in the 70s. This year has been a crazy weather year. We've had a lot of rain (you know the west has had a lot of rain when even Wyoming is green) and it has been really cool. We usually have a week or two of 100 degree temps (and it still may come), but today and yesterday have been two of the hottest days (lower 90s) we've had. I'm really hoping we don't hit 100 because we don't have AC in this house and 90 degrees has been hot enough.

More Vacation!

We spent some vacation time in Washington as well. We kept pretty busy while we were there. There was shopping, yard sale-ing, swimming, visiting, yard work, playing and farm work to do. Kache was sad they were already done swathing, but he was fine once he saw Grandma's 4-wheelers.

I never remember how big the Columbia is until I go home. It's huge! All these other rivers I've lived by (the Snake, Teton, Laramie, North Platte, etc.) look like little cricks compared to this mighty river.

We spent our last night at Mijken's. The kids put on a $.25 show for us on Ashley's cool stage. We had assigned seating and lemonade and popcorn.

We had a good time and are looking forward to next summer.

Vacation!

We went to visit family this month. It was nice not to think about cattle and grass and water for a couple of days. We went to Teton Valley first to visit Bagleys.

We were in the middle of about eight wagons. On our ride up the canyon we had a little college girl driving our wagon (Lynn asked not to drive that night so he could spend the evening with us) and at one point Lynn about had to jump up and grab the reigns from her because she didn't have control on one of her horses (I'm exaggerating a little because I was nervous, but I was watching Lynn and he was ready to save us if he needed to. I definately would have felt more comfortable if he would have been driving).
