Thanksgiving Football

Wednesday night the ranch gets together for a football game.  The younger kids play their own game.

And the young men challenged the old men to a game.  The old guys won, but they were all winded and sore by the end of their game.

Family Pictures

We tried doing our own family pictures this year.  They didn’t turn out so great, but good enough for a Christmas card.

Dallie’s Thanksgiving Feast

Dallie’s and a couple other kindergarten classes put on a Thanksgiving feast.  They dressed up and sang some songs and then we had lunch in the park.

Random Riggin

Riggin saying a mock prayer.  His prayers and testimony are the best.

Riggin and buddy Johnny.  We’ve really been missing this friend.  His sister was recently diagnosed with cancer so they are keeping to themselves as much as possible to avoid sick germs.

We were doing laundry one day and he wanted to wear Dallie’s dress.

He got into my thyroid meds one day and ate upwards of 10 pills (apparently they taste like pez).  Poison control said there was no need to go to the hospital for eating that many, but he would be hyper for a couple of days.  He is already wild (compared to the rest of my kids), but that week he had lots of extra energy.

He thinks it’s fun to ride in the shopping cart.  I’m afraid he’s going to break it.

Dad pushing him.  Again, I’m amazed this cart can survive all the wild and crazy.

I finally found a car seat for the back of Jason’s bike so Riggin doesn’t have to ride on the handle bars.  He was pretty excited to ride this way.

He has the best minion laugh.  Whenever he hears the pantry door open, he runs to it and says “I do! I do!” (meaning he wants a snack from the pantry).  When I ask him if he is a big boy, puppy, little brother, etc., he says, “No! I a bebe!”  He has the best facial expressions and when he talks it is never quiet.

St. Augustine Field Trip

The 4th graders went to St. Augustine, which was founded in the 1500s by the Spanish.  Jason chaperoned and I think he had a pretty fun time (another of the ranch dad’s went as well so he had a friend).  Kache will finish the narration for this post.

St. Augustine was settled in 1517 by Ponce De Leon.It is the oldest settlement in America. Above is Castillo De San Marcos the fort built by the Spanish.  I got to see the cannon fire a cannon ball, well just black powder and lots of smoke.

They use this real pirate ship to fish once in a while.

My teacher chose me to show the class how the old Spanish doctors worked.  The survival rate in Spanish hospitals was 3 out of 4 compared to 1 out of 4 in the British hospitals.  Part of this was because the Spanish kept notes of treatments and they washed their hands.

If someone broke their arm, they had to go to the doctor and then they would pull up the flesh and muscle with a tool called a rake and then they’d use a saw to cut off your arm.  Then they’d cauterize it using a hot iron.  We also learned that the pink coloring in nerds comes from a bug.  The guide said he had one student faint when he “performed” surgery her.

Here we were a practicing militia.

Halloween

The kids had a fun Halloween this year.  Dallie wore 3 different costumes this year.  She was Snow White for the trunk-or-treat, she dressed up in 50’s clothes for school, and was a witch on Halloween night.

Buzz wasn’t willing to leave Dusty behind.

Nor did he like his helmet.  I was just glad he wore his costume.

Kache was Percy Jackson.  I’m not sure why he was hunched over like an old person for the picture though.
