Bucket Calves

The boys have four bucket calves they’ve been taking care of since December.  They’ve done a really good job with them.  They wake up before 6 on school mornings to feed them.  I was dreading having them because I figured I’d end up taking care of them, but the boys have taken full responsibility and have done a great job with the calves.  Kache often tries to ride them, but can’t get them to move until Rex gets after them.

Ft. Lauderdale Temple

We were able to go to the Ft. Lauderdale Temple Open House.  It was beautiful.  The furnishings and coloring were true to Southern Florida – it was really interesting.  It was exciting for the kids to go inside a temple.

Spring Break

It has been spring break for the kids, but Jason has been working all week so we didn’t do anything fun.  Until Friday.  Jason took the boys to ride in the Challenger.  They were out all day and had a good time.  It was nice for them to get to be out and working again.

They all came home very dirty.

Dallie and I also had a fun day.  We went yard sale-ing.  There weren’t many happening, but we spent nearly all the cash we took.

A few of our treasures.

As soon as we got home we had to make some cookies to try out our new KitchenAid.  It worked great!

Squeezing Oranges

Living in Florida has its benefits.  Fresh squeezed orange juice is one of them.  Although it took a dozen oranges to make enough juice for our family, and it makes a terrible mess.  But it sure was yummy.  And Dallie wants me to say that she loves oranges!

Ranch Rodeo

The ranch rodeo this year was an all around great success.  But I didn’t get to enjoy much of it.  Jason was the rodeo chairman, so he was busy keeping things running which kept me running trying to get our kids to their events.

Kache was in the drill team this year.  He did great even though his horse did not like the crowd.

Dallie did well in the mutton busting.

Jason and the kids did great and we only lost Riggin once.  It is a relief to have it over.

Dallie’s New Look

Dallie has reading glasses.  We didn’t even notice that she was having troubles – she reads great and hadn’t complained about headaches.  But she had an eye exam at school and they said she needed to have her eyes checked by a doctor.  So Monday we went to the optometrist and by Thursday she had glasses.  She looks pretty cute.  I hope she remembers to take care of them.

Visitors

My college roommate, Kari, and her family came to visit this week.  They live in New York City and needed a break from the cold.  We took them around the ranch and found this road kill for them to have a picture with.

Kari’s mom, Lucy came with them too.  It was fun to see her, she’d always come visit when we were in college.
