We’re finally within driving distance to our families, so we made the trip West this summer. By the time we made the loop, we went to 11 states and drove nearly 4000 miles! What a trip! We were able to add quite a few more states to our list of never-been-before.
This is the first time Kolt has been west. We haven’t been to Nebraska since we moved from there, so we drove north first to see our old home, ranch family and branch family.
I didn’t get any pics of Oklahoma, but that and Kansas were added to our list. Below is a pic of Kansas. It was pretty and it was so nice to see long distances and large acreages of farmland.
And then we made it back to The Good Life.

Hwy 250. “Go three miles north of Lakeside and turn at the trees.” I love giving directions like that.

The Lakeside School. I love the history in this building. I wish the walls could talk. And I wish they still had school here, but its closed down now (including the portable behind).
We were able to go to the Windmill Days in Hyannis and see some old friends. We stayed with Myron and Caroline Durfee, our good friends from the Rex. On Sunday we went to the Alliance Branch. It was so good to see everyone. It was like we hadn’t even left. Our regular church pew was empty, so we sat in our old spot and everything. I love and miss our Sandhills days and people.
