The Reason Why

The reason I carry a hoe or rake with me when I'm moving my yard water (this is just a bull snake, but they aren't welcome in my yard either).

Also the reason we have a lot of cats.

Family Branding

Tuesday was the last branding of the year (thank goodness!). The women and kids are invited to participate. I really missed having Summer there to hang out with. But it was fun for a little while. It was way too hot and humid.

The Roundup.

Our crew (Jason's on the far right).

Ryder and Jason on Roxy.

Dallie having her turn on Roxy. She still isn't too sure about horses (or work in general). Hopefully she will get used to ranch life.

Kache riding Mike.

Kache got to use the branding iron.

This is how Ryder felt about wrestling calves that day. He kept saying, "I don't like that noise!" (meaning the calf bawling).
Jason roping.

After the branding we had lunch in the hanger (Eldreds used to have a helicopter). The kids had a good time. We needed to have a "dirtiest kid" contest.
Jason sleeping. Notice Dallie fully clothed.
And no longer fully clothed. It was so hot. It felt so good to get home and shower that night.

Just Another Day

We went out to start generators with Jason the other day. It was nice to spend some time with him and I got to see a part of the ranch I hadn't seen before.

Can you tell Ryder dresses himself?

When we got home the boys decided they wanted to run through the sprinklers.

Then Kache found a baby bird that had fallen out of it's nest

Jason decided he'd try to find it's nest. I'm sure he knew he would never find it, he just wanted a reason to climb the tree. He is the bright white spot way up high.

Kickball

Our latest favorite game is kickball (or kick-a-ball as Ryder calls it).

Rounding the bases.

It's funny for me to see the boys in tennis shoes.
