We always enjoy going up to Rapid City for Stake Conference. We took the long way home through the Black Hills. Mt. Rushmore always amazes me.
We stopped at the profile turnout for Jason and the kids to climb some rocks.
We drive through the Wind Cave National Park when we drive through the Black Hills and they have a monument with an excerpt from Willa Cather’s My Antonia:
“…more than anything else I felt motion in the landscape; in the fresh, easy-blowing morning wind, and in the earth itself, as if the shaggy grass were a sort of loose hide, and underneath it herds of wild buffalo were galloping, galloping…”
Although this is a nice description, the picture below shows the land so overgrazed we wonder what the protected wildlife eat.
I love this old bridge near Hot Springs.
And finally back in Nebraska.
